I am an anthropologist currently working at the intersection of global public health and social medicine. My research examines how social, economic, environmental, and historical conditions shape inequality and access to care.

Based at the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda, where I lead teaching in Global Health Equity and Social Medicine, I conduct most of my fieldwork in Rwanda and Madagascar. My ongoing projects focus on the physical activity transition, chronic disease care, climate change and health, and health system transformations.

I combine qualitative and ethnographic research with interdisciplinary collaborations in public health, epidemiology, medicine, human evolutionary biology, and health professions education. Across these areas, I am interested in how anthropology and the other social sciences can contribute to understanding and reducing health inequities.
